Slick Side A1 Upper Receiver, Stripped -
Made from 7075 T6
aluminum forgings machined to final dimensions. Correct early-style
carry handle contours, no shell deflector, no forward assist,
A1-pattern rear sight housing. All points where other parts attach
are finished current mil-spec dimensions. Current production AR-15
components will fit perfectly. Note that the AR-15 / M16 Slickside
Upper Receiver is period-accurate therefore it DOES NOT have M4-type
feed ramps found on most current-production AR-15 flattop uppers.
Hardcoat anodized for extra strength, with a tough, scratch-resistant
Teflon coating.

With the current retro boom, finding A1 receivers with the forward assist has become a pain. So when I had the itch to make a 653 carbine and discovered that A1 receivers could not be had, my project became a 654 build. I had never owned an AR WITHOUT the FA so this was new territory. But once I built and started using it, I realized maybe Stoner was right. The FA was NOT needed in 95% of cases. If you can push forward on the groove of the bolt carrier and the bolt won't seat, you need to get that cartridge out of there. I now have TWO of these uppers and they are just as good as anything being made right now. No problems putting parts in. It is a winner. Just pick your color, black or gray.
